It is believed that the number of food poisoning cases within Australia and around the world is actually significantly larger than reported, and most victims will put it down to a “tummy bug” or a 24 hour flu.
I remember one statistic that said in Australia there are 80 million cases of food poisoning each year. That would mean that each person would have 4 cases a year, on average. Personally I thought it was a bit extreme. But of course I have long since forgotton the source. If anyone out there knows it, please let me know.
