Food Safety NOW!

In the past year, there have been many food safety scandals around the world. From the frozen berries that carried Hepatitis A (click here to read more) to the more recent case of lead found in Maggi noodles in India (click here to read more), it seems like food scandals are an inevitable part of life…

In the United States, more than 100 000 Americans develop an illness caused by food and most of the causes are quite easily avoidable. This fact alone should motivate people to take a political stance for improved food safety standards. Currently, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is taking small steps by getting antibiotics out of animal feed after saying they would discuss this a decade ago.

But if you are not a particularly political minded person, you can help eradicate food poisoning issues by taking simple food safety steps. Actions such as washing your beloved reusable grocery in a while, or reconsidering the merits of foods cleaned by ‘irradiation,’ or seeking out a more reliable supplier for your prouce. Consumers can make their kitchens a haven for good food and good health without having to worry 24/7 about the food supply.

Do you need to reconsider the ways you approach food safety?
