Paleo Scandal

The publication date of a paleo baby cookbook that was to be published under Pan Macmillan Australia has been delayed after leading health officials around Australia says that the recipes in the cookbook could be potentially fatal children. The book is co-authored by celebrity chef Pete Evans.

What is Paleo?

For those that are not into the healthy eating culture (I admit, I am not the biggest fan of eating healthy diet…), paleo is a diet uses a nutritional approach that works with your genetics. In this diet, you can eat fruits, vegetables, lean meats, seafood, nuts, seeds and healthy fats. The diet also tells you to avoid dairy, grains, process food and sugars, legumes, starches and alcohol.

Sounds good, right? But the Department Of Health of Australia is concerned that the baby cookbook’s recipe for a baby ‘bone broth’ says that it exposes babies to dangerous levels of vitamin A and inadequate levels of other nutrients. The health officials are concerned if that the DIY baby formula is the only thing consumed by the infant, it may affect the baby’s growth and development could be impaired.
